Using the Creative Media Service to enhance digital skills

 By Jack Clayton

This semester the Creative Media Service worked with Bronwen Stone, a Phd student from the Archaeology Department.

Bronwen has used our service to learn how to take high-quality super close up (Macro) photos of her project which involves 13th Century and 16 Century glass found at Monastic sites, “despite limitations of the material due to corrosion, the photographs that will appear in my thesis and future publications are excellent” says Bronwen.

The Creative Media Service provides students and staff with access to state-of-the-art equipment and software, as well as expert instruction from our team to create professional results.

"It's a brilliant service. Everyone in the team is very helpful and seems genuinely interested in what I'm doing, I would recommend this to any staff or student at the university who wants to learn professional media skills… for free".

How can Creative Media help you?

The Creative Media Service provides a drop in service in which staff and students can get 1:1 tuition and training. They can also work with teaching staff to deliver creative modules, where students can submit a Video Production, Podcast, Website, Photography Portfolio, amongst many other formats.

“We regularly collaborate with departments across the University. Together we develop creative opportunities and outcomes for students”, says Jack, Teacher of the Creative Media. “I thoroughly enjoy sharing digital skills, which are increasingly relevant for future-proofing the skillset of our staff and students”.
